On August 20th, 1894, the Carrolltown Fire Engine Company was chartered. Prior to this, the first piece of apparatus was purchased in 1884, which was a hand pumper. In 1887, the committee purchased a hand operated chemical pump. In 1907, the Fire Company purchased a horse drawn pumper with gasoline driven pump for pressure and volume. The first motorized engine was a Federal Knight gasoline driven fire engine purchased in 1923. Over the years, the fire company has purchased different engines, with the latest being in 2005, this a Crimson Tanker and Pumper.
